Dean's Distinguished Speaker Series - AI for Growth
About
As businesses increasingly adopt artificial intelligence (AI), much of the focus has been on improving productivity, enhancing efficiency and reducing operational costs. However, could this emphasis on efficiency be causing organisations to overlook AI's potential to drive organic growth? While productivity gains are important, an excessive focus on efficiency presents two key risks: missing opportunities for business growth and alienating employees whose engagement is essential to successful AI adoption. In this lecture, Professor Stefano Puntoni from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, will examine the limitations of a productivity-focused approach to AI implementation and discuss why businesses should give greater consideration to AI's potential to support organic growth. The session will also explore the role of marketing in shaping an AI-driven growth agenda and why greater involvement of the marketing function could help organisations identify and pursue new growth opportunities.
