Walter Munk Day ~ Celebrate Our Oceans
This FREE event draws more than 1,000 attendees, and features 60+ ocean-related, interactive exhibits; food, music, dance, art, tours of THE MAP, scavenger hunts, submarine races, Kumeyaay history and culture including basket weaving and tule boat building. Children especially enjoy the SD Fire and Lifeguard trucks, face painting, ocean critter costume parade, passport books with stickers from each exhibitor and interactive activities at each booth. This year, the event focuses on Walter Munk, the "Father of Surf Forecasting" whose work surfers depend on to know when and where to catch the "perfect wave." Try your surfing skill on a mechanical surf board at Walter Munk Day, October 4. Check out www.waltermunkfoundation.org/walter-munk-day for more information.
