Film Screening & Discussion - Community Spaces led by African and diaspora Women
Across South London, generations of African and diaspora women have built community infrastructure, managed buildings, and secured resources to deliver services that support families.
This evening brings together a short film and a live fireside discussion celebrating women-led community spaces in South London.
The programme starts with London's female-saxophonist, Megumi Mesaku, who will be entertaining guests for a full hour before the guests convene to the film reveal.
The film puts a spotlight on three organisations that have been doing this work on the ground: Parents Skills 2 Go, Camberwell After School Club, and Loughborough Community Centre - each rooted in their communities, each led by women who know what our communities need.
After the screening, we'll open up the conversation. What does it take to build and sustain spaces like these? What can we learn from them? And how do we ensure they get the recognition and support they deserve?
Join us for an evening of storytelling, celebration, and honest dialogue.
