The role of big cities in driving growth
In the context of the Chancellor’s Mais Lecture, which highlighted the economic potential of big cities outside London, and with the forthcoming Northern Growth Strategy, this half-day conference will explore the role of big northern cities in driving growth across the UK economy
Against this policy backdrop, the event will bring together national and local politicians, business leaders and commentators to discuss how Government and metro mayors can drive growth in urban areas, including delivering regeneration projects, and how to create the right environments for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The event will feature the latest Centre for Cities’ analysis of the big cities, keynote speeches from politicians and panel discussions.
Speakers include:
Alison McGovern, Minister for Local Government
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester
Henry Kippin, Chief Executive, North East Combined Authority
Andrew Carter, Chief Executive, Centre for Cities
Anthony Breach, Director of Policy and Research, Centre for Cities
More speakers to be announced.
