Raising Girls, Growing U4U, and Creating a Values Led AI Strategy

Being a mother changes how you see risk. Who could get hurt. What you're responsible for. Who is on the other side of the thing you're building.

Ila Panik Marchetta is the founder and CEO of U4U, a social wellness platform built for tween and teen girls, and the mother of two girls herself. She's going to talk honestly about both: what she has learned about what girls are actually facing right now, and the decisions her team has made so that the girls using U4U are protected by how it works, not in spite of it.

Then the part most of us never get to see. Ila will take us behind U4U's AI strategy: how the company uses AI, what changed once that work met the real world, and why limits and safeguards had to become part of how they grow rather than something bolted on afterwards.

And then you'll start your own. Together we'll work through five questions:

  1. Who could be helped, or affected, by how I use AI?

  2. What could happen in an unexpected or high risk situation?

  3. Where do I need to set clear limits?

  4. What guardrails actually reflect my values and my responsibilities?

  5. How will I keep testing this as things change?

You'll leave with the start of a values led AI strategy you can apply to whatever you're building, and a clearer sense of how technology can support the people we care about instead of quietly working against them.

Two reasons to be in this room:

  • If you have a tween or teen daughter, this is a window into the digital and emotional world she is living in, from someone who has spent years studying it closely.

  • If you're building something, this is the conversation about limits that usually happens too late.

You don't need to be technical. You don't need to have launched anything. No blazers required.

What to bring: A laptop, and one decision you've been putting off.

The session runs 12:00 to 1:00 PM PT. We'll stay on afterwards for anyone who wants to keep asking. No fixed end.
