Queering Climate: Casual drinks for queer folks & allies at LCAW
Join Queering Climate to celebrate queer climate leadership. An informal evening to connect and relax at the start of London Climate Action Week. Queers + Allies welcomed!
In an increasingly fractured world, we are seeing the climate emergency rage on and inequality and anti-LGBTQ+ hate escalate around the world, with gender non conforming and trans people most affected. Both the climate and queer liberation movements are being weaponised for political gain to undermine democracy, and face a growing tide of misinformation and legislative attacks.
On the occasion of London Climate Action Week 2026, we ask: how can queering the ways we convene and collaborate - by centring queer identities and liberation principles - help us confront these intersecting threats?
Following gatherings during climate weeks in New York and London, we’re bringing our community together for another edition of Queering Climate.
On Tuesday, 23 June, help us queer London Climate Action Week and imagine radical possibilities to address the climate and intersecting crises we face. Join us for casual drinks and discussions to meet others in our community.
About the hosts
Queering Climate is a community and collaborative studio connecting, supporting and celebrating queerness in climate spaces and beyond. Launched during New York Climate Week 2023, we aim to be a sandbox for queer folks to connect and co-create new ideas that reimagine and advance climate action rooted in queer liberation. As queer folks working to advance climate justice, we know firsthand the courage, power, and inclusive and creative leadership that queer people demonstrate in everyday life, and especially inside climate spaces. While there are increasing numbers of us in climate action sectors, we noticed there are limited spaces for us to show up as our full selves and connect over how our identities and experiences can strengthen and reimagine climate action beyond the status quo. And, we do have spaces where allies can listen and learn from our experiences and identities.
Queer identities have the unique ability to bring us closer and invite people in. There is a lot everyone can learn and imagine from queer identities; they’re rooted in a sense of found community, kinship, empathy, and compassion. They break societal norms and bring people together in a way that we can not only act in support of the other, but also in support of the space we inhabit.
We want to create spaces for discussion, learning, and reflection - where each of us can examine how we collectively overcome the many barriers we face in getting where we need on the climate front, and dealing with the crisis of leadership at hand. We hope to bring together people from all walks of life - climate professionals, activists, young people, and more. By doing so, we'll create a space to share, learn from each other, be vulnerable, and find ways to collaborate.
