Meraki UofT: Season 4 Kick-Off

Toronto’s builder community, together.

Toronto is full of builders.

Artists, engineers, designers, founders, tinkerers...quietly working on things they care about.

Meraki exists to bring those people into the same room.

To start Season 4, we’re gathering the Meraki UofT community at the Shopify office for an evening of sharing, demos, conversation, and good food. This isn’t a hackathon or a pitch night... it’s an open space to show progress, talk about ideas, and meet people who are building alongside you!!

Whether you’re deep into a project or just starting to explore, you belong here :)

What’s happening:

A few members of the Meraki UofT community will be demoing and sharing their passion projects. You'll see small glimpses into what people are building, learning, and experimenting with right now.

You can expect:

• Short demos from Meraki community members

• Casual conversations around art, tech, and creative work

• Food (yes, there will be food)

• Space to meet people and trade ideas

Come curious! Come ready to talk about what you’re working on or what you want to work on.

Agenda

5:30 PM — Doors open
Grab food, settle in, and meet people

6:45 PM — Opening remarks

7 – 8:45 PM — Community demos + open mingling
Short demos from Meraki builders, followed by conversation and sharing

A Note on the Meraki mindset

Meraki is built on the idea that creative work is better when it’s shared.

When you come, you’re not just an attendee, you’re a part of the space. We ask everyone to:

• Be welcoming to newcomers

• Ask thoughtful questions

• Share generously, even if your work feels “unfinished”

• Help make the room feel warm, curious, and alive

If you see someone standing alone...go say hi & make a new friend.

What is Meraki UofT?

Meraki UofT is a student-led builder community at the University of Toronto.

(we're friends of Socratica!!)

We bring together people across disciplines; engineering, art, design, business, research, and beyond! People who care about making things and learning in public. Meraki isn’t about polished outcomes or resumes; it’s about curiosity, momentum, and community.

If you like building, experimenting, or exploring new ideas, Meraki is for you.

Filming & media notice

This event will be photographed and filmed for Meraki UofT’s (and sponsors) promotional and archival use (social media, website, and future event materials).

By attending, you consent to being recorded. If you have any concerns or would prefer not to be filmed, please let a Meraki organizer know...we’re happy to accommodate.
