About Event

PREHAB LAB
A performance wellness session for dancers who take their body seriously.

Join our inaugural edition of Prehab Lab, a preventative care workshop focused on prehabilitation, the proactive approach to preparing the body for physical demands before injury occurs.

Especially vital for dancers, who often wait until they're in pain to address biomechanical issues.

This session will be led by To The Pointe Physiotherapy.

What to Expect:

This workshop aims to educate dancers about ways to become more physically resilient as well as reduce injury risk. It will be a practice-based workshop, with a large focus on education through movement.

We will explore the principles of an effective warm-up, flexibility enhancement and improving physical capacity, through the RAMP protocol (raise, activate, mobilise and potentiate).

This will help us to explore different concepts used to prepare the body to dance, and provide some tips and exercises you can use day-to-day.

You should come away from this class with ways to improve your flexibility and technical skills, as well as feeling confident that there are strategies you can implement to care for your body (so important - especially as a freelancer).

  • Practice-based workshop with a handout provided

  • It is centred around the RAMP principle of a warm-up (Raise, Activate, Mobilise, and Potentiate)

  • This principle aims to help build healthy habits and educate dancers on how to become more physically resilient, as well as reduce injury risk

  • Dancers will be able to take home practical assessment and treatment tools to incorporate into their daily practice
