The Dinner Table: Building Your Personal AI Operating System for Human Connection
The Dinner Table X AI & Human Connection
An intimate, curated dinner for open and curious conversation about AI and friendship, beyond the hype, the headlines, and the doomsday takes.
This Dinner Table brings together a small group of guests for an evening of in-depth discussion around a question we're all quietly holding: can technology actually bring us closer together? We'll go behind the scenes of OneThousandClub to share the real AI infrastructure we use to figure out which humans should know each other, and explore what it means to use machines in service of real-life connection.
What we'll explore
How AI can be used to increase human interaction instead of replacing it
The actual AI operating system OTC uses to match members who should meet
Why algorithms optimized for attention pull us apart, and what designing for belonging looks like instead
Can AI help you make real friends? Where the tech helps, and where only humans can
What community infrastructure looks like in an AI-first world
The conversation will be gently guided, but shaped by the people around the table.
This is not a talk. This is not a workshop. This is a conversation.
Your Hosts: Mel Miles
Mel Miles is the founder and CEO of OneThousandClub, a members club built around real rooms, not algorithms. After fifteen years working across global health, from the Gates Foundation to USAID, she became convinced that relationships are a health intervention, with social isolation carrying a mortality risk on par with smoking. At OTC she's built the proof: a community where AI works quietly in the background so that humans can do what they do best, sit at a table and go deeper.
Conversation Menu
Starter:
Can AI genuinely helped you make a friend?
Main:
If an AI knew you deeply, your values, your curiosities, your season of life, would you trust it to choose who you should meet? Why or why not?
Dessert:
What does real connection mean to you in an age of infinite digital contact?
The Table: Guarda-Mór
Guarda-Mór is a chicken rôtisserie nested in the heart of Lisbon, on a tiny cute street called Rua do Guarda-Mór. A friendly neighbourhood restaurant serving frangos, sharing plates, natural wines and generous desserts, it's home to one big communal table that seats up to 24. One long table, one roast chicken dinner, and a room full of curious humans. Come celebrate life with us.
