About Event

Not sure whether to pursue angels, apply for grants, bootstrap, or hold off on raising for now? You're not alone — and the right path depends on where you want your business to go.

Join us for an evening with angel investor Michael Wang, who'll walk through the landscape of funding options open to early-stage founders. This isn't a pitch session or a fundraising masterclass — it's a chance to step back, understand the pathways, and reflect on which ones actually fit your goals, so you can make clearer and more intentional decisions about how (and whether) to fund your growth.

What we'll explore together

  • The main investment pathways available to early-stage founders, and how they differ

  • How to think about which routes suit your own objectives and stage

  • Space to reflect on your funding goals — in small groups and with Michael

Who it's for
Founders from newcomer and migrant backgrounds building in Europe, at any stage of the journey — alongside anyone in the wider SINGA community curious about the funding landscape. No prior fundraising experience needed. Come as you are.

How the evening flows
A welcome and check-in, Michael's talk on the investment landscape, a small-group reflection on your own business objectives, open Q&A, and a look at what's next at SINGA.

About Michael Wang
Michael Wang is an immigration lawyer turned early-stage investor and systems thinker, working where investment, movement, markets, and technology collide. He's building Fertile Soil Ventures to back "newcomer tech" across the UK and Europe — startups designing solutions for communities navigating the realities of movement, from work and housing to health and inclusion. Michael brings both a systems-level view of the funding landscape and a deep commitment to founders building for a more equitable, inclusive innovation ecosystem.

Come with your questions and an open mind. Register below — we'll ask a couple of quick questions so we can shape the session around what you most want to explore.
