Bringing a Wetland to Life through Film
Join us on Jan 7th, 2026 at UTC 14:00 for a talk on — An Invitation to Wonder: Bringing a Wetland to Life through Film, by award-winning filmmaker Ben Albert.
Guided by the wisdom of his grandfather, wetland scientist Calvin DeWitt, young filmmaker Ben Albert spends a summer immersed in the mysterious world of Waubesa Wetlands. Together, they uncover the life, secrets, and importance of wetlands — and in doing so, our relationship to all living things.
Ben is a storyteller driven by a curiosity for the natural world and our relationship with it. He was selected as a 2022 Jackson Wild Summit Fellow and received mentorship with National Geographic and top environmental filmmakers. Whether producing films for non-profits, shooting for Great Lakes Now, ARTE, the Environmental Defense Fund, or hosting community screenings, Ben strives to rebuild connections to our land and reveal the hidden wonder of nature all around us.
Here is the film website and Ben's personal website. Registrants will receive access to view the full film in their confirmation emails.
