AI for Seniors: Control a Virtual World With Your Own Voice and AI.
What does AI actually look like when it is made approachable for older adults?
This interactive Edmonton Startup Week session gives community members a chance to see, understand and experience how virtual reality, conversational AI and voice technology can be used in a practical, human way.
The session will include a live demonstration showing how participants can speak French to an AI inside a virtual world, learn new words, and also use active recall methodology at the same time. So they are not only speaking to an AI and controlling the experience via their voice, they are actively learning too. (No French experience is required.)
Participants will learn how AI can respond to their voice inside a virtual environment, how immersive technology can support new learning, memory, recall and cognitive engagement, and why older adults should be included in the conversation around emerging technology.
The goal is for community members to leave with a clearer understanding of what AI and VR can actually do, reduce fear around the technology, and give them a chance to experience an older-adult-focused application firsthand through the Immersive Mind & Memory Program (IMMP).
