What is Build Day?
A day where people come together to build using AI. Some for the first time, others who've been at it for years, and everyone in between.
It's not a hackathon. It's not a class. It's a small, calm day to build, connect and learn. Founders, designers, writers, artists—anyone curious. No experience needed.
The day
Come build something straight away—new or existing—or spend the morning learning and build in the afternoon.
10:00 — Welcome, coffee & hellos
10:30–11:30 — Kick-off to start working on your thing
11:00–16:00 — Building!
11:15–12:00 — Optional breakout lesson on AI app building
4:00–5:00 — Show & tell: what folks built and learned
Afterwards: an optional social nearby, drinks & dinner.
The vibe
A learning environment first. No experience is too little, no question too basic, no idea too small. Participation is opt-in all day—intros and show & tell are hand-raise-only, and quietly getting on with your thing is a perfectly good way to spend the day. Be kind, be curious, be generous with what you know.
We care a lot about psychological safety: when people feel safe, curiosity and kindness follow. Zero tolerance for hate of any kind.
Why?
Until now, a fairly small and homogeneous group had the only seats at the table of building our digital futures. It's time to bring everyone else to it. Free, because that means accessible and diverse—and that's good for everyone.
On AI
This isn't an event about hype. It's about understanding what these tools can actually do by using them, thinking critically about where they're useful, and making something that matters to you.
FAQ
Do you need to be technical? No—infact, you're especially welcome if you've never built an app or written code before. We'll help, and there's an optional session at the start on the how to get started.
Just for business apps? Not at all. Solve a problem in your life, build something for your community, or make something for fun. Commercial ideas welcome but not the focus.
What to bring? Ideally a laptop. If that's tricky, reach out and we'll sort something.
Lunch? Either bring something, or feel free to pop out at any point to grab some food.
