About Event

Hop across the Bay to join Berkeley Fire Department Assistant Chief Colin Arnold and Berkeley City Councilmember Brent Blackaby for a tour of the community-wide Zone Zero defensible space and home hardening efforts taking place among ~1500 parcels in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.

Learn more about the progress being made to improve wildfire resilience in the WUI abutting Tilden Park; the programs and initiatives offered by the City of Berkeley to support homeowners in this transition; and the key role that Firewise Communities and neighborhood groups play in mobilizing residents.

We'll meet at City Hall at 9:30am (easy access via Downtown Berkeley BART) and then drive together up into the Berkeley Hills for a tour of the Grizzly Peak Mitigation Area, kicking off at Berkeley Fire Station #7 at 10am.

Optional lunch with Councilmember Blackaby and Assistant Chief Arnold in Downtown Berkeley after the tour is over.
