A Practical Application of FHE — Deep Dive into Zama's Research for Confidential Blockchain Protocol
6:30pm-7:00pm.
Zama's Year in Research
Nigel Smart, Chief Academic Officer at Zama, will outline some research highlights from the last year in Zama.
In the last year Zama has produced over 20 papers, ranging over a wide area of cryptography. This is not just focused on core FHE algorithms, but also covers zero-knowledge proofs, MPC protocols, homomorphic and oblivious PRFs, stream ciphers, BLS signatures, as well as applications such as voting and private-set-intersection.
We also saw major deployments of our protocols, including the large scale MPC-based key generation for TFHE, as well as a secure Dutch auction of the Zama token.
This talk will cover only a fraction of these results, but it will hopefully contain something for everyone in the cryptographic community.
7:00pm-7:30pm.
Zama’s Confidential Smart Contracts Protocol
Morten Dahl-Jorgensen, VP Blockchain Technology at Zama, will take you through the cryptographic architecture behind the Zama protocol, showing how fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and threshold multi-party computation (MPC) combine to deliver confidential smart contracts on public blockchains.
The session will cover how smart contracts execute symbolically on host chains, how heavy FHE operations are offloaded to coprocessors, and how threshold MPC secures decryption keys. It will also show the concrete deployment setup, where staking keeps operators honest and hardware enclaves prevent key shares from being extracted. Finally, the talk will walk through how developers write confidential smart contracts, and illustrate this through two real-world use cases: a confidential token and a blind auction.
7.30pm-11pm. 🍺🧀 🎶
Afterwork & Networking
Join us after the talks for drinks, food, and great conversations with the Zama team and the broader FHE community. A perfect opportunity to connect with researchers, builders, and enthusiasts.
