Beyond IYRP: Where the Herds Lead Us. Pastoralism, Rangelands and the Future We Choose.

​A side event hosted by IMPACT Kenya, combining a documentary screening with storytelling and moderated dialogue. Where the Herds Lead Us brings audiences into the lived realities of pastoralist communities — their relationship with land, the movement of herds, Indigenous knowledge and the pressures reshaping their way of life. Building on the momentum of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP 2026), the event moves the conversation from recognition to action, exploring five questions at the heart of pastoralism's future: land and mobility, governance and rights, conservation, finance, and the next generation. Drawing on IMPACT Kenya's two decades working alongside Indigenous communities in Northern Kenya, the session closes with a panel discussion charting practical pathways for pastoralist-led solutions beyond IYRP.
