Glocal Gen Z: The New Bridge Builders
11.12 Glocal Gen Z: The New Bridge Builders
GEW China 2026 Special Edition
Date: November 12, 2026 (Thursday) | 14:00 - 17:30
Location: Shanghai (The Arch Co-building Space)
Context: GEW China 2026 (20th Edition) Sub-forum & The Arch Fellowship Side Event
1. Event Overview
In an era of fragmented globalization, how does the new generation (Gen Z) navigate geopolitical friction and build authentic connections? This event moves beyond traditional "cultural exchange." We are bringing together global open-source developers, bilingual digital natives, and international exchange students to explore how Gen Z can act as "Super Nodes" to bridge their home countries and China through technology, business, and co-creation.
2. The Curation: Who is in the Room?
We carefully curate three distinct groups to spark maximum chemical reactions:
The Builders: The Arch Roamers
Who: Top-tier international developers, AI researchers, and Web3 hackers.
Superpower: Writing code that crosses borders; using open-source as a universal language.
The Translators: Sino-Foreign University Students
Who: Students from NYU Shanghai, Duke Kunshan, UNNC, XJTLU.
Superpower: Deeply immersed in dual cultures; masters of translating "Chinese narratives" into global business logic and vice versa.
The Explorers: Top-Tier Exchange Students
Who: International exchange students from Fudan, Tongji, and SRNS.
Superpower: Bringing raw, native perspectives from their home countries; highly sensitive to cross-border "information asymmetry."
3. Detailed Agenda & Topic Angles
14:00 - 14:30 | Ice-breaking: Smashing Stereotypes
Format: Interactive live polling.
Angle: Confronting biases directly. What was your biggest stereotype before coming to China? What is the biggest "information gap" you've discovered?
14:30 - 15:15 | Lightning Talks: "My Cross-Border Experiment"
Format: 3 x 10-min TED-style talks.
Topic Angles:
The API of Cultures: How to help a Chinese tech product localize in the West (or vice versa) beyond just language translation. (Speaker: NYU SH / DKU)
The Reverse Time Machine: What "future" trends (e.g., supply chain, EV, e-commerce) have I seen in China that can be brought back to my home country? (Speaker: Exchange Student)
Borderless by Design: How developers bypass geopolitical friction through GitHub and decentralized communities. (Speaker: The Arch Roamer)
15:15 - 16:00 | Core Panel: "The New Bridge Builders"
Format: 4-person panel representing the 3 groups.
Topic Angles:
The "Aha" Moment: When did you realize the real business/tech world was completely different from the media narrative?
Navigating Friction: How can Gen Z founders leverage macro-uncertainties as micro-opportunities?
Team Dynamics: If we build a cross-border startup today (Roamer builds tech, Translator does GTM, Explorer brings local insights), what would be our biggest challenge?
16:00 - 17:00 | Co-building Workshop: "Hack the Border"
Format: Group work (Mixed teams of 5-6).
Action Angle: Moving from talking to building. Teams are given 45 minutes to solve a real-world cross-border challenge.
Scenarios (Examples):
Tech: How to attract 1,000 Chinese developers to contribute to an Argentine open-source AI project in one month?
Consumer: How to introduce a Chinese sustainable brand to European university campuses using a Gen Z perspective?
17:00 - 17:30 | Fusion Mixer
Format: Light food, drinks, and deep networking based on the workshop collaborations.
4. Call to Action
We are looking for forward-thinking university partners, student communities, and sponsors to co-host this dynamic session. Let's empower the next generation of global builders.

11.12 00后新桥梁主义:中外青年创新创业面对面
2026年全球创业周中国站特别版
日期: 2026年11月12日(星期四)
时间: 14:00 – 17:30
地点: 上海(The Arch Co-building Space)
1. 造物者:The Arch Roamer
