improbable RESEARCH : launch event
The Improbable Research Group is pleased to invite you to its official launch on April 8, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lafayette Anticipations (with the possibility to attend online).
This inaugural gathering marks the beginning of a collective research dynamic grounded in Art Thinking — where creation becomes a method of inquiry and science becomes a force for creation.
We are delighted to host this first event in one of the most inspiring spaces for contemporary creation: Lafayette Anticipations.
The afternoon will unfold in three complementary moments:
2:00–2:45 PM — Keynote Lecture
Pr. François-Xavier de Vaujany (Université Paris Dauphine–PSL)
Professor of Management at Université Paris Dauphine–PSL and a leading scholar in organization studies, Pr. De Vaujany’s research explores the dynamics of organizing, digital transformation, materiality, and the invisible dimensions of collective life. Drawing on philosophy, ethnography, and process thinking, he examines how technologies, spaces, and absences shape contemporary organizations. He has published extensively in top international journals and is known for developing innovative, art-inspired approaches to research and inquiry.
“From Non-Events to Non-Places: Thinking and Healing the Voids of Organization.”
His talk invites us to take absence, interruption, silence, and latency seriously — not as deficits, but as fertile spaces for investigation and transformation within organizations.
2:45–3:15 PM — Introducing the Improbable Research Group Salons
Pr. Sylvain Bureau (Scientific Director of the Improbable Chair) and Pr. Laetitia Gabay-Mariani (Coordinator of the Improbable Research Group) will present a new cycle of gatherings designed to support improbable research projects and collective experimentation.
3:30–4:30 PM — Co-design workshop to shape the group’s research program around projects and tasks force.
4:30–5:00 PM — Exhibition Visit: Diego Marcon
The event will conclude with a guided visit to the exhibition by Diego Marcon at Lafayette Anticipations. Through cinematic and spatial installations exploring disturbance and dissonance — particularly within intimate and familial settings — the exhibition offers a sensitive extension of our reflections.
We warmly invite researchers, artists, and practitioners eager to explore the unknown and develop ambitious, improbable scientific projects together to join us.
We look forward to welcoming you on April 8.
