Speaker Bio:
Som Seif is a Canadian entrepreneur and financial services leader, best known as the Founder and CEO of Purpose Unlimited and Purpose Investments. He built Purpose after selling Claymore Investments, the ETF company he founded in 2005, to BlackRock in 2012. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking at RBC Capital Markets, where he helped develop structured products and raise capital for asset managers in Canada and the U.S.
A University of Toronto engineering graduate and CFA charterholder, Seif has been a prominent force in modernizing Canadian financial services. Claymore grew to roughly $8 billion in assets over seven years, and Seif later co-founded Wealthsimple, helping shape a new generation of technology-enabled investing and wealth platforms in Canada.
Beyond business building, Seif is active in community, civic, and university initiatives. He has served in leadership or advisory roles with organizations including Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation, the Art Gallery of Ontario, NEXT Canada, and the University of Toronto engineering program.
