Or do you press “run”?
AI promises scale, efficiency, impact. It also concentrates power, encodes bias, and quietly redistributes risk.
For social impact professionals, this isn’t abstract. Budgets shrink. Crises multiply. “Do more with less” becomes doctrine. AI offers leverage.
But leverage for whom?
We’re in old philosophical territory: Aristotle questioned whether goodness lies in outcomes or character. Kant warned against treating people merely as means. Arendt showed how harm becomes ordinary through systems, not villains.
