Topic: Mastering Blockchain Technology and Building on Cardano: From Fundamentals to Practical Applications
Workshop Structure
Duration: 4 workshops held two weeks apart, with each session building upon the previous one. Students will gain fundamental and technical expertise, practical experience, and certification/internship opportunities.

Workshop 1: Principles of Blockchain Technology and the Cardano Ecosystem
Duration: 3 hours Objective: To build a strong foundation in blockchain concepts and introduce the unique Cardano ecosystem.
Topics Covered:
Blockchain fundamentals: Decentralized ledgers, nodes, and consensus mechanisms
Introduction to Proof of Work and Proof of Stake (with deeper analysis in Workshop 2)
Overview of the Cardano ecosystem:
Cardano's creative philosophy: Scalability, interoperability, and sustainability
Cardano layers: Settlement Layer (CSL) and Computation Layer (CCL)
Governance and community role
Practical blockchain applications: Case studies related to identity, supply chain, and Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
Practical activities: Observing and analyzing live blockchain transactions
Outcome: Students will gain an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of blockchain, the Cardano ecosystem structure, and its practical applications.

Duration: 3 hours Objective: To introduce students to technical models, wallets, and basic smart contract principles.

Public and private keys
UTXO and eUTXO models
Cryptographic hashing
Comparison with Ethereum's account-based model
Decentralized wallets:
Blockchain wallets: Definition and use cases
Seed keys, custodial and non-custodial wallets
Using wallets to interact with Web3 platforms
Staying secure: Risks and best practices
Practical activities:
Creating wallets and transferring assets
Interacting with a Web3 application
Demonstrating security risks and how to protect assets
Outcome: Students will understand wallet operations, secure asset management, and practical wallet uses beyond transactions.

Using Cardano CLI to create an NFT on the Testnet
Introduction to IPFS for decentralized data storage
Setting up and understanding the operation of a Cardano node
Building applications using familiar tools:
Connecting Web2 concepts with blockchain development
Practical activities:
Creating an NFT on the Cardano testnet using CLI
Storing and retrieving data through IPFS
Setting up and exploring a Cardano node
Outcome: Students will gain practical experience using tools to build simple blockchain applications, preparing them for advanced projects.

Workshop 4: Governance and Building Practical Blockchain Applications (On 20/05/2025)
Duration: 3 hours Objective: To provide an understanding of Cardano governance, practical applications, and smart contract development.
Topics Covered:
Practical blockchain use cases:
Applications in supply chain, healthcare, and financial sectors
Introduction to Smart Contracts:
Tools and steps for creating and deploying a basic smart contract on the Cardano testnet
Cardano's governance system:
The role of Decentralized Representatives (DReps) and the On-Chain Constitution
Proposing and voting on governance funding proposals
Certificate preparation and final projects:
Review of workshop content and preparation for certification exams
Presentations of any project (dApp, smart contract, or governance proposal) by participants
Practical activities:
Simulating a proposal and voting process
Building and deploying a basic smart contract
Outcome: Students will gain an understanding of Cardano's governance mechanisms and demonstrate their learning by building and presenting practical blockchain solutions.
