Beyond the Frame: Open Exhibition
Open Exhibition at Kinowerks: Beyond the Frame
Beyond the Frame brings together a multidisciplinary group of artists whose work considers identity, visibility, resilience, and the ways we create space for ourselves and one another.
Rooted in self-expression, the exhibition examines art as a means of preservation and connection—particularly within communities and identities that have historically been overlooked, marginalized, or asked to exist within predetermined boundaries. Across painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and other forms, participating artists approach these ideas through their own lived experiences, practices, and perspectives.
Rather than defining identity as something fixed, Beyond the Frame considers the processes through which it is continually formed, challenged, reclaimed, and expressed. The exhibition invites audiences to consider not only what exists within the frame, but the experiences, histories, labor, and voices that extend beyond it.
