About Event

Foothill High School is proud to host its first-ever TEDx event!

Join us for a day of inspiration, innovation, and ideas worth spreading, as students, educators, and community members share their unique perspectives on topics that matter. From groundbreaking projects to personal stories, this event will celebrate curiosity, creativity, and the power of ideas to spark change.

Meet our Speakers!
Esther Kim: A genetic engineer, biotech entrepreneur, and start-up advisor passionate about empowering the next generation of scientists. From biomanufacturing to co-creating accessible CRISPR kits, she has since pivoted to supporting climate tech entrepreneurs. Today at TKS, she coaches over 100 young innovators tackling the world's biggest challenges.

Aaryan Harshith: A junior at Stanford studying bioengineering, he focuses on developing phage therapies for drug-resistant bacterial infections, and has discovered and named three new species of phages.

Roxana Grunenwald: A Chemical Engineering student at Yale. Diagnosed with a severe autoimmune condition <2 years ago, she became well studied in women's health and chronic disease pathways - her first foray into longevity. She now runs an early stage biotech hacker house in SF that has helped 100+ founders raise capital from top VCs across bio, longevity, climate, health, and hardware. She also runs an 12,000-member deep tech community across 55 countries. She is currently a Partner at Dorm Room Fund, investing into student founders, and previously worked with Xfund and Pear VC. She is passionate about supporting underrepresented founders, women in STEM, and exploring human flourishing.

Amy Zhou: An Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) student at Duke University. A two-time patent holder at the age of 19, successfully navigated significant legal and institutional challenges before ultimately prevailing in a case that reached the Supreme Court. After being removed from an opportunity at MIT, later returned to conduct research there, demonstrating resilience and determination in the pursuit of innovation. Work reflects a commitment to advancing technology through research, invention, and the perseverance to overcome obstacles.
