BioFi Deep Dive: Navigating the Trump Era with Strategy and Integrity – for Non-Profits and CDFIs Working on Biocultural Regeneration
We at the BioFi Project have been watching with concern as the Trump administration has targeted 501c3s funding Indigenous-led, other BIPOC-led, and climate/ecological-focused work. And then again as the administration threatened funding for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), which play a critical role in bringing financial resources to communities that are often locked out of capital markets and are doing critical biocultural regeneration work.
In this BioFi Deep Dive, we will have an unrecorded, off-the-record conversation about how non-profits and CDFIs can best navigate the unfolding changes in the regulatory and federal funding environment. We will discuss risk mitigation, the importance of continuing to do this critical work in this time, and the tradeoffs that come with how we choose to tell the stories of our work. We will also make space to grieve the ways we may lessen the power of our stories for protection.
We will be joined by an incredible panel of experts who are all navigating this space with a great deal of care:
Stephen Kelly, Senior Counsel at Cypress LLP - focus on working with orgs in the ecological and web3 space
Pearl (Lujan) Gottschalk, Philanthropic Advisor with a specialty in working with Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous Philanthropy, and in Inclusive Finance; Advisor at the Kindle Fund and the Cultural Conservancy
Kim Pate, NDN Fund Managing Director & Nimiipuu Fund Board Member
Aria McLauchlan, Co-founder & Executive Director of Land Core
Again, this call will NOT be recorded, so please add this to your calendar to be sure you don’t miss out.
