

Consulting 101 with Dr. Ish Mawla
Ish is a former consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Detroit, where he focused on health care, public sector, social impact, and people & organization work. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan. While at BCG, Ish was deeply involved in recruiting, including leading case prep sessions, facilitating workshops for the Bridge to BCG program, and conducting first-round interviews. Ish is deeply passionate about coaching and mentoring aspiring consultants who want to break into the industry.
In this session with the UGA PhD Consulting Club, Ish will provide a practical introduction to management consulting and the recruitment process. He will cover what consulting is, why PhD students and postdocs are well-suited for consulting, major consulting firms and their activities, the application and interview process, and how advanced-degree candidates can prepare effectively.
