📊 Why Now
Germany is Europe's engineering heart, and AI is now central: 45% of German startups say AI is at the core of their product, up sharply from 2024. Berlin (283 AI startups) and Munich (around 200) together hold about half the country's AI companies. In 2025, Munich raised €2.7B and Berlin €2.4B in venture capital.
But the German Startup Monitor 2025 summed up the year in three words: more AI, less capital. €5.4B flowed into German startups, still well behind the US. Great engineering, tighter funding.
