join us for a mid-week culture hit, taking in the major new exhibition at the art gallery of nsw.
Avatar: Forms of Vishnu is the first australian exhibition devoted to the Hindu deity Vishnu, and the largest presentation of south and southeast asian art shown at the gallery in over 20 years.
expect more than 200 works spanning ancient sculpture, textiles and paintings through to photography and installation, tracing Vishnu's avatars — from Matsya the fish to Kalki, the future avatar of renewal.
who's this for? anyone curious about mythology, art history and south/southeast asian culture, or just looking to meet new people over a shared wander through the gallery ~ no experience or expertise needed, just bring your curiosity.
