About Event

What would it take for machines to recover from damage the way living systems do?

Join us for a live research talk on Autonomous Self-Repair, our work on decentralized fault repair in modular spacecraft. We will present a bio-inspired stress-sharing strategy that allows surviving modules to detect nearby failures, propagate directional distress signals, and move toward damaged regions using only local information and connectivity-safe motions.

We will cover:

  • how the repair policy works

  • how modular structures respond to random and localized damage

  • what the simulations reveal about scalability and repairability

  • how this connects to machine analogues of morphogenesis and homeostasis

  • the next steps toward hardware demonstrations and more capable reconfigurable systems

The talk will be followed by an open Q&A and discussion.
