Storytime with Deanna Mae
Join local author and theater maker Deanna Mae for a playful, interactive story time celebrating her debut picture book, Liv Perdue, What Will You Do?
Meet Liv, a curious kid trying to answer one very BIG question: What will I be when I grow up? Through plenty of experimenting, a few hilarious mishaps, and a little imagination, Liv discovers that she doesn’t need to have it all figured out just yet.
After reading the story together, we’ll bring Liv’s world off the page with an original song and sing-along, creative theater games, a mini art project, and a playful yoga and affirmation flow inspired by the book.
Come ready to read, sing, move, make, imagine, and PLAY! Perfect for young children and their grown-ups. No one needs to know what they want to be when they grow up. Curiosity is more than enough!

Deanna Mae (she/her) is a children’s author, theater maker, educator, director, and lifelong creative who believes deeply in the power of play, story, and the arts. She has been performing since the age of 10 and has spent more than 20 years creating theatrical and educational experiences for young people.
In 2019, Deanna founded Playcrafter Kids in Fort Collins, Colorado, as a place where childhood, creativity, and play could take center stage. Since then, she has developed and led countless theater classes, camps, productions, and creative arts experiences for children of all ages. Her original work includes the children’s musical Zest!, created with composer Veronica May, as well as StoryMaker Magic!, an interactive theater and storytelling program for young children that blends original stories, music, movement, dramatic play, and emergent literacy.
Deanna is also the author of her debut children’s book, Liv Perdue, What Will You Do?, a playful invitation for children to explore who they are, what brings them joy, and all the possibilities ahead. Next, she is bringing Liv from the page to the stage by developing a new Theatre for Young Audiences musical inspired by the book.
Whether she’s writing a story, dreaming up a new theatrical experience, directing young performers, or getting onstage herself, Deanna loves creating spaces where kids are invited to imagine boldly, play wholeheartedly, and discover their own stories!
