Network Nations Tokyo Meetup

​Join us in Tokyo for an informal afternoon exploring network sovereignty & network nations.

The decentralized web has built extraordinary infrastructure for coordination. But coordination is not the same as governance. How does a distributed community hold together over time? How are shared resources stewarded, disputes resolved, decisions made, and participants kept accountable?

​We’ll start with a short introduction to Network Nations — a framework for democratic, commons-grounded governance among translocal communities — followed by a guided discussion.

​The session will explore three ideas at the heart of the framework: functional sovereignty, commons governance, and entanglement. Together, they offer one way of thinking about how networked communities might develop real governing capacity without simply reproducing startup or state models.

​The Network State has become one prominent blueprint for networked sovereignty, but it is only one possibility. This meetup is a space to explore the wider design space: what other institutional forms might emerge, what values should they encode, and what can we learn from the decentralized-web community about designing them well?
