SOLASTALGIA | Artist Tour | Exhibition | Live Soundscape Performance
Change. The passage of time. Shifting homelands, city life, ecologies - whether through growth or destruction, change often leaves a space behind, and we come to name it "grief". What if we sat mindfully with this space, and felt it instead as a realm of possibility?
Artist Evelyn Gracie presents two rooms of unseen visual art, reconnecting digitalised city life with that of their ancestors, islanders from the Subarctic archipelago of Shetland.
A palette of Prussian blues permeate the works, using the sea as an atmosphere for uncovered histories, reflection, and stillness beneath the surface.
Artist Tour ✨
We begin the evening collectively with an artist led tour of the works and discussion.
Evelyn Gracie is a Scottish artist whose work is an enquiry into social and ecological change - using concepts such as deep time, heritage and potential futures as touchpoints to inform present day perspectives.
Live Soundscape Performance ✨
7pm, icelandic composer Haukur Þór Harðarson (Trio Abstrakt, Icelandic Symphony Orchestra) will perform an immersive soundscape to complement the exhibition.
Harðarson’s work probes the physicality of the space in which listening occurs, exploring the possibility of bringing the listener into closer contact with the acoustic space and time in which they find themselves.
Bar and light refreshments available at the venue ✨
Come and mingle, meet the artist and absorb an atmosphere of visual and sonic delights.
