Pitch a Future: An Economic System Design Night
Experts and beginners welcome! This one's hands-on: come with a system, not just an opinion. There's no consensus for life post-AGI, only competing design bets. Tonight we put a few of them side by side.
Bring a 2-min pitch on ONE economic system for a post-labor world, grounded in a real mechanism or precedent: equivalent of Alaska's Permanent Fund, Singapore's CPF, Georgist land taxes, the "American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act," worker cooperatives, Klingefjord & Edelman's "Market Intermediaries" proposal, or similar.
Each pitch answers 4 questions in 90 seconds:
Who holds the claim: labor, capital, data, or compute?
What's the distribution mechanism?
What's the closest real-world precedent?
What failure mode are you trading against?
Read first: Brynjolfsson, Korinek & Agrawal, "A Research Agenda for the Economics of Transformative AI" (NBER, 2025), which maps the 9 Grand Challenges so you know which problem your pitch is solving.
Schedule:
6:30–7:00 pm — Ground rules + free time to plan the pitch
7:00–8:00 pm — Pitches (90 sec + ~3 min Q&A each)
8:00–8:30 pm — Open floor: compare and critique
