Hackathon - Project Motherboard x GirlsWhoML - (Femme Builders)
Project Motherboard is one of Europe’s first residential founder houses, dedicated to fostering female builders. We are building a collaborative, supportive space where founders can focus on what matters; creating impactful businesses. Our vision is simple: building doesn’t have to be lonely, and innovation thrives when women come together to create for good. We are not a business, but rather a social experiment to see what a women-centered innovation community can look like.
This Saturday, May 9th, we are very excited to be hosting a hackathon in our St. John’s Wood based HQ space. This event is co‑hosted with Girls Who ML, alongside ecosystem partners like Oxbridge AIx, xWAVES, Newly, PerfectTed, all working together to create a conducive space for female builders.
GirlsWhoML started in 2021 by three machine learning PhD students, unsettled by the lack of female representation in the field. They developed a learning programme that became the foundation for GirlsWhoML, expanding it across UK universities.
This initiative has now become a global movement to build an ecosystem that helps women and those identifying as non-binary enter ML and AI through classroom learning and hands-on practice, aiming to introduce 100,000 women to ML and AI by 2027.
If you’re a woman interested in building - we want to see you! If you are non-technical and have an idea you want to test, we’ll pair you with a technical builder. If you’re technical, you’ll likely meet SME’s across diverse industries you can work with. The event will also feature senior technical experts who will serve as mentors as participants build!
