Beyond fossil: the future of industrial energy - what it takes to electrify industrial processes, and make it pay
Energy has become one of the biggest cost and risk factors for industrial companies. Volatile prices, rising carbon costs and supply security are changing the economics of how industry runs, and electrification is moving from long-term ambition to business case. As both advisors and investors, we see this shift from two sides: how corporates are acting on it, and what is driving the innovation agenda.
The case for electrifying industry is getting stronger every year, as energy prices, carbon pricing and supply security reshape the economics of industrial energy. But knowing why is the easy part. The harder questions are about how: grid capacity, CAPEX, technology readiness and the organisational hurdles that slow things down, and how leading companies are overcoming them. We will ground the session in real-world examples of what this looks like in practice, including from our portfolio company Enerin, who will share how their high-temperature heat pumps are replacing fossil boilers at industrial sites today, and where the technology is heading.
