About Event

Event Description

At a time when attention is fragmented and trust in media is shifting, one question looms large: are the stories that matter actually reaching the people who need to hear them?

This session brings together journalists and social change practitioners to close the gap between those doing the work and those telling the stories. Too often, reporting focuses on crisis without capturing solutions, or misses the nuance and lived realities of communities on the ground. At the same time, social innovators struggle to break through crowded media ecosystems and reach broader audiences.

We will explore how media—across journalism, entertainment, and digital platforms—can act as a powerful lever for behaviour change and systems transformation. What does responsible, impactful storytelling look like today? How can independent media cut through noise and polarization? And how do we ensure that reporting not only informs, but also drives understanding, empathy, and action?

The session will create space for an honest, two-way exchange: helping media professionals better understand impact on the ground, while equipping changemakers to more effectively engage with and shape narratives in the public sphere.

Speakers

  • Aric Noboa is Co-CEO & Executive Producer at Impact(Ed) International, producing award-winning media that drives behavior change and shifts social norms at scale.

  • Méline Laffabry is Founder & Executive Director at aidóni, fostering inclusive and people-centred journalism that reshapes narratives around crises and conflict.

How do we get critical stories and solutions into mainstream “feeds” and public consciousness?

Location & access
Accessibility matters deeply to us, and we do our best to choose spaces that reflect that. That said, some of our Oxford venues are in historic buildings without lifts. This room is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchair users, those with mobility challenges, or anyone needing step-free access.
