From climate transparency to climate action – possibilities of AI?

The backbone of the Paris Agreement is a transparency framework that requires of countries to report information on their emissions, commitments and implementation. This generates an excessive amount of information and the challenge is to make the information meaningful and actionable to various stakeholders.

How can AI leverage climate governance data to drive climate action among governments, businesses, investors, and civil society?
What is required for AI to be trustworthy in this context?

Tove Engvall
Tove Engvall is an Assistant Professor at the school of Information at Mid Sweden University. She has a PhD in information systems from the University of Agder. Her PhD was about digitalisation related to the reporting requirements under the Paris Agreement, where she investigated how digitalization supports climate governance at national, EU and international levels. She is currently conducting research on Trustworthy AI in climate governance.
