The Water-Energy Nexus: Pasadena Edition
Join Pasadena Climate Commons and the Resnick Sustainability Institute at Caltech for an evening exploring the intersection of water and energy, featuring a panel discussion and an innovation showcase spotlighting climate technologies being built here in Pasadena and across the region.
Panel Discussion
We’ll bring together experts from science, technology, utilities, and water innovation to explore the challenges facing our water systems and, importantly, what it takes to turn promising ideas into solutions that can actually be deployed.
Our four speakers will bring very different perspectives to the conversation:
J.T. Reager — Group Lead, Water & Ecosystems Group, NASA JPL, focusing on how satellite data can help us understand freshwater availability, groundwater depletion, and water storage across the West.
Stacie Takeguchi — Chief Assistant General Manager, Pasadena Water & Power, bringing the utility perspective on water supply, drought planning, and regional water management.
Warren A. Teitz — Resource Development Team Manager, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, with 30+ years of experience in the water sector, focusing on developing new water sources, desalination, the water-energy nexus, and bringing emerging technologies into public water agencies.
Priyanka Kompella — CEO, Water from Air, developing atmospheric water technology that uses waste heat from data centers to produce water.
Moderator
Jeff Simonetti, Founder of Aqua Exchange and Senior Vice President at Capitol Core Group.
Climate Innovation Showcase
Meet the people building climate solutions here in Pasadena and across the region.
Current participating companies include:
Captura — carbon removal from the ocean
Thiozen — low-carbon hydrogen production
Mitico — carbon capture technology
Water from Air — atmospheric water generation
The showcase will be interactive, learn how these technologies work, meet the teams behind them, and ask questions directly.
Whether you work in climate tech, water, energy, research, investment, policy, or simply want to better understand how our region is tackling these challenges, this is an opportunity to connect with the people building and implementing the next generation of climate solutions.
Come explore the technologies, ask the hard questions, and join the conversation about the future of water and energy.
