Talk Title: From First Principles to Agentic AI: How Language Models Learn and Generalize

​Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring the machine learning fundamentals behind modern agentic AI applications. We’ll start from first principles: how models learn from data, how training changes behavior, and why generalization matters when building systems that need to reason, adapt, and act reliably. Through a practical language-model experiment using JAX and Google Cloud TPUs, attendees will see how different model sizes respond to the same learning task and how well they transfer that learning to examples they have never seen before. By the end, participants will have a grounded understanding of the core ML ideas that underpin today’s AI-powered and agentic applications

​To participate, you must bring your own laptop and power cable. The activities are intended for laptops and cannot be completed on a tablet or phone.
