Knowledge Commoning Swarm (Pulse II)
The Knowledge Commoning Swarm is a two-month open convening to surface what's already been built, map how the components relate, and publish a toolkit that helps communities compose their own knowledge commons from open, modular components.
How it works
The workspace stays open for the full two-month duration of the swarm. You contribute however you choose to contribute, when you want to contribute. Five moves give the swarm shape: scout components that already exist, help garden the knowledge commons, connect with people to deepen interconnectivity, compose existing components into a new assembly, or harvest patterns and stories.
Two live pulses each month help ground what’s emerging into shared understanding.
What we're making
A map — a living canvas of components organized by function
An assembly wizard — an interactive tool that guides people through composing a knowledge commons
An instructional guide — the conceptual frame that makes everything navigable
A component index — a structured, searchable archive that makes the work citable and reusable
What we're NOT making
We believe that an ecosystem of functional components already exist and the work ahead of us is making them legible and useful for communities who want to share knowledge. For that reason, our swarming activities don't focus on "hacking" together anything new. No one will stop you from building a something new spontaneously (we believe in self-organization, after all), but our coordinative focus will be oriented towards mapping what already exists and making it more accessible.
Who this is for
You don't need to be an expert. You just need to care about how communities share and steward knowledge. If you've built something, come put it on the map. If you're curious about what's out there, come explore.
This is a collaborative space shaped by whoever shows up. Come hang out with fellow knowledge commoning nerds and help build something useful together.
