We will be holding a 30-minute discussion in three periods:
First period — Hockey is the team sport most exposed to climate change: warmer winters take away the outdoor game, and rising power prices drive up the cost of every hour of ice.
Second period — Hockey is also the sport best positioned to accelerate climate solutions. Every rink is an industrial refrigeration plant — compressors, refrigerants, humidity control, envelope, lighting, storage. NHL arenas host millions of fans each year, creating potential for circular economy solutions. If you can decarbonize an arena, you can decarbonize an airport, a hospital, or a data center.
