Welcome to the third webinar in the OpenAir Collective's 2026 Carbon Removal Challenge monthly webinar series! We're proud to present a panel focused on the CDR job market and advice for getting a job in CDR. As our primary audience is the students participating in the Carbon Removal Challenge, we will emphasize entry-level jobs. There will be plenty of time for audience Q&A.

The panelists will be Tank Chen of CDRjobs, Ben Swainbank of Work on Climate, Max Pisciotta of Limelight Steel, and Casey Goldstein of College to Climate and MCJ. We will also hear from Stephen McCord from our partner University of Michigan's Global CO2 Initiative. Challenge lead Sue Dorward will moderate.

Tank Chen, Co-Founder of CDRjobs and CDR.fyi. He also works with the Carbon Curve Podcast, the OpenAir Collective, and the Carbon Business Council. Tank tells stories of people, numbers, and businesses behind carbon removal, jobs, investments, and market trends, to make sense of where the industry is headed. His work sits at the intersection of data, policy, and storytelling, helping turn complex market data into actionable insights and tools that help scale high-integrity carbon removal for future sustainable economies.

Ben Swainbank is Founder and President of Oceanid Climate and Carbon Solutions. He volunteers as an advisor with Work on Climate and as a judge for the Carbon Removal Challenge. Ben is an experienced manager, engineer, systems architect, and team leader passionate about building a just and sustainable future for everyone.

Dr. Max Pisciotta is a process engineer at Limelight Steel, focused on decarbonizing steelmaking with the use of lasers instead of coal. Prior to starting at Limelight, Max contributed to initiatives with Absolute Climate, Carbon Removal Standards Initiative, and was featured in the CDR documentary, Legion 44. Max holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and degrees in mechanical engineering from Colorado School of Mines. When Max is not at work, they can be found with their nose in a book, cycling through San Francisco, or exploring nature at local parks and hiking trails. Max recently published "Carbon Removal Jobs: A Practical Guide for the Job Search."

Casey Goldstein is Co-Founder of College to Climate and works as an Investment Associate at MCJ, an early-stage fund for the energy and industry transition and the inevitable impacts of climate change. He is a graduate of Duke University, he where he studied Computer Science/AI, Environmental Science, and Innovation. He is also a TEDx speaker.
