1. Jen Groth’s (Nexus) work on permutation arguments—compressing thousands of memory and opcode checks into a single linear constraint—has become a key technique for making zkVM proving fast and scalable.
2. Danny Willems's (o1Labs) work on lightweight zk-SNARK architecture and ~22KB chain, which keeps node infrastructure requirements extremely low and allows anyone to run a full node.
