About Event

We’re excited to welcome you on Friday, October 23, 6-8pm for our October "Under the Moon" — a gathering of climate art, science & action every full moon, open to anyone 🌕

Our special guest is Paola Garcia: a climate educator who recently spent a week aboard the R/V Lake Guardian on Lake Superior, the world’s largest freshwater lake.

What does the largest freshwater lake on Earth have to do with Jamaica Bay, Coney Island Creek, or the Hudson? More than you might think. We’ll trace the threads between the Great Lakes and our own backyard waters through a youth-created film, a slideshow from the July Lake Superior Science Immersion, and an interactive art station.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Paola Garcia is a climate educator, systems thinker, and the Founder of Born Carbon: a mission-driven, for-profit that builds climate, resilience, and cultural literacy meant to last seven generations. She started the Stewardship Impact Collective for the NYC-Metro Chapter of The Climate Reality Project, and helped secure NYS's K-12 climate literacy instructional mandate through The Climate & Resilience Education Task Force. Along with teaching Sustainable Systems at Parsons School of Design, she has built Earthships in disaster-prone regions steadily centering resiliency-building.

ABOUT HERE ON EARTH

Here On Earth is a climate art nonprofit affiliated with the Global Family for Love and Peace (GFLP) in NYC. Our goal is to nurture youth as climate storytellers—using film as a powerful tool to drive imagination and action toward a more resilient future.

ABOUT GLOBAL FAMILY FOR LOVE AND PEACE
