Inside the Creative Mind: Art,Design, & Imagination ft. Dax Norman
Inside the Creative Mind: Art, Design & Imagination
What does it mean to build a life around creativity? Where do ideas come from? And how do we hold onto curiosity and imagination as we grow?
Join Prosper XO for an intimate conversation with Dax Norman—an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, animator, designer, musician, and former University of Texas professor whose creative career has moved across fine art, animation, commercial design, music, and education.
Dax's work has reached audiences through projects connected to MTV, Pepsi, and the Guggenheim, while his personal artistic practice has remained deeply rooted in experimentation, curiosity, and imagination. He is also a musician with Austin band Smoking Hand, bringing yet another dimension to a creative life that refuses to fit neatly into one category.
For this Town Hall, we're going inside the creative mind.
We'll explore Dax's story, his artistic process, the experiences that shaped the way he sees the world, and how he moves between different creative mediums. We'll talk about inspiration, experimentation, failure, finding your artistic voice, making a living while protecting your creativity, and what it takes to continue creating over a lifetime.
We'll also explore something especially important right now: the value of human imagination in a world increasingly shaped by technology and AI. What makes human creativity unique? How do we protect curiosity and creative freedom? And what can artists teach us about seeing possibilities that don't exist yet?
At Prosper XO, we believe artists are essential cultural partners—and that creativity, imagination, and human expression are things worth protecting, investing in, and celebrating.
Whether you're an artist, musician, designer, filmmaker, animator, entrepreneur, student, educator, or simply someone curious about how creative people think, this conversation is for you.
Come meet other members of Austin's creative community, share ideas, and spend an evening celebrating the strange, beautiful, unpredictable process of making something that didn't exist before.
