Finland is internationally known for its design. This evening looks at the heritage behind that reputation and explores the connection between architecture, design, nature, industry and everyday life. A special focus will be placed on Alvar Aalto and Sunila, celebrating Aalto’s contribution to world architecture and design.

In July 2026, the Aalto Works series was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It comprises 13 sites in Finland designed by Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto, including the Sunila residential area. Sunila is a living heritage. Sunila is an example of how architecture, design, nature and human well-being can form a sustainable whole – an idea that is as relevant today as it was in the 1930s.

Set within the unique historic surroundings of Villa de Sein, the exhibition explores how Nordic design continues to redefine modern living through sustainability, material intelligence, functionality, and emotional connection.
