AI can feel abstract, overwhelming, or “not for me.” But the truth is, you don’t need to be a software engineer or data scientist to start putting AI to work in meaningful ways. In this interactive session led by Bethany Crystal, Founder & CEO of Build First Academy, you’ll learn how to move from curiosity to confidence by defining what you want AI to do -- whether it's for you, your career, your team, or your organization.
What to expect:
Hands-on AI learning: A simple design-thinking framework for experimenting with AI (Problem, Output, Prompt, Inputs, Test).
Solve real problems in real time: When you arrive, you’ll write down one work or career challenge you’d like to solve with AI (for example, “I need a faster way to draft client proposals” or “I want help embarking on my job search for the next chapter in my career”). We’ll select 1–2 problems from the room, workshop them live, and use those examples as a model for how everyone can apply AI to their own challenges.
Small group builds: After the live demo, you’ll work in groups to design and test your own AI use cases, checking each other’s work and learning collaboratively.
Plain-language insights: What AI is (and isn’t), and how to talk to your leadership or team about its real-world potential.
You’ll leave with:
A clear, jargon-free understanding of AI’s capabilities and limits.
A personal draft of a practical AI use case relevant to your work or career transition.
A repeatable framework (POP-IT) for applying AI to future problems.
Confidence to engage your team or leadership in conversations about AI that matter.
