The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires (2010), Tim Wu
I suggested this book because I think of telecommunications system as our nearest historical infrastructure revolution. I remind myself though that much of the financial pain was invisible because the shift from analog to digital squeezed so much more productivity out of the same original assets. Anyway - I hope we can all enjoy reading this while thinking about any take aways for our energy transition.
The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires (2010), Tim Wu — Using the history of the telephone, radio, film, television and the internet, Wu traces a recurring pattern in which open, decentralised technologies become concentrated into powerful corporations.
I look in three places before I buy books - library audiobooks, library digital or paper and Welib.org. If you're running late on the reading - here's a review.
