About Event

On June 12, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m., we invite you to BHROX bauhaus reuse for a Public Vitality Lab as part of the New European Bauhaus Festival Week.

The Lab opens a complementary process to support the emerging implementation of Berlin’s Climate Adaptation Act. It builds on one year of applied research in Berlin districts and brings together administrative practice, civic tech, AI infrastructure, urban transformation, and civil society.

The focus is practical: How can healthier, greener neighborhoods be developed under conditions of heat, heavy rainfall, infrastructure stress, limited resources, and complex responsibilities?

The afternoon will focus on three aspects:

Administrative reality: Which decisions, data, tools, responsibilities, and legal frameworks shape implementation today?

System landscape: Which existing tools, specialist procedures, data sources, interfaces, and security requirements need to be understood before digital or AI-supported prototypes are developed?

Collaboration process: How can engagement from civic tech, AI, research, startups, administration, and civil society be organized through a shared process — with clear rules for intake, data access, security, IP, licensing, recognition, and further development?

The aim is to move from fragmented ideas and individual outreach toward a structured development process. This would restore administrative capacity, connect technical possibilities to real public-sector needs, and create the conditions for useful, secure, and interoperable prototypes.

The results will inform further working days and possible sprints over the summer.

The process is being developed by nextlearning Politics for Tomorrow in cooperation with the Berlin district office of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Together with ÆTHOS, the Foresight Institute, and Dark Matter Labs TreesAI, a working framework is emerging that connects administrative practice, civic tech, urban transformation, and AI infrastructure.
