THE 500-YEAR ARCHIVE

​🌐 Join us for THE 500-YEAR ARCHIVE, a public showcase of artist prototypes exploring new ways of preserving Black cultural memory and truth.

​Too much of Black cultural memory has been erased, fragmented, or archived without the imagination and authorship of the communities it comes from. This project asks what it could look like to build new forms of preservation with artists at the center.

​Earlier in the day, three selected artists will take part in a one-day hackathon using archival material from The Institute of Black Imagination as inspiration and emerging creative tools to prototype their ideas.

​Event Schedule:

​6:00 PM: Doors open, arrivals, and networking

​6:30–7:30 PM: Artist presentations

​Please arrive promptly. We’ll be checking guests in at the door until 6:30 PM, when presentations begin.

​Prompt & Purpose is a creative technology platform that brings artists and cultural practitioners together to explore emerging tools through gatherings, hackathons, and community building.

​The Institute of Black Imagination is a cultural platform dedicated to cultivating, preserving, and celebrating the future of Black imagination, and is contributing archival material for the artists to work with during the hackathon.

​Together, with support from Luma Labs and OpenAI, we’re creating space for artists to explore new possibilities at the intersection of culture, technology, memory, and storytelling.
