About Event

Images powerfully convey emotions and sentiment. Faculty and staff can search for clipart and images on the internet to improve their presentations and communication, but these images may be copyrighted or overused. A new piece of art can However, not everyone has the time or expertise to create original artwork. Fortunately, there are now Generative AI tools available that can help bridge this gap. In this one-hour workshop, we will explore four Generative AI tools that are specifically designed for creating (and improving) art: DALL-E-2, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and Lensa.

DALL-E-2 is an AI model developed by OpenAI that can generate images from textual descriptions. With DALL-E-2, you can simply describe an image that you have in mind, and the model will generate it for you. This freemium tool can be particularly useful for creating visual aids that are directly related to your lecture content.

Midjourney is similar to DALL-E, but uses Discord as the interface to create images.

Stable Diffusion is an AI tool that allows users to generate high-quality, diverse images. This tool is particularly useful for generating artwork that can be used to illustrate abstract concepts. With Stable Diffusion, you can create images that are both visually interesting and informative.

Finally, Lensa is an AI tool that can enhance existing images. With Lensa, you can adjust the lighting, color, and other aspects of an image to make it more visually appealing. This tool can be used to improve the quality of images used in lecture slides or to create stunning visuals for social media.

In this workshop, we will cover the basics of each of these tools and provide examples of how they can be used to create artwork for lecture content and social media. We will cover the ethical issues that exist in using these tools, and why they can be controversial. We will also provide tips for using these tools effectively and efficiently. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of how (and when) to use Generative AI tools. They will also have access to resources that will help them continue to develop their skills in this area. With these tools, creating engaging content has never been easier.
